Welcome Letter

July, 2017

Dear First Grade Families,

Hello!  My name is Tim Krayer, and I will be your child’s first grade teacher for the 2017-2018 school year.  I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself, so that we can begin to get to know each other before the school year even starts.

This will be my 11th year of teaching, and eighth in the Ralston Public Schools.  My teaching certifications are in K-6 general education and K-6 special education.  I hold a Master’s in Inclusive Childhood Education, as well as a Reading Specialist endorsement from UNO.  I have taught a variety of ages and subjects, with most of my experience being in special education.  I especially love teaching reading and teaching children to love reading, as well as integrating technology into my lessons.

On a more personal level, both my wife and I were born on the East Coast and came to Omaha in 2010, when my wife was hired by the Durham Museum.  After nearly six years at the museum she has since moved on to UNMC’s medical library as digital archivist.  We have a son, Benjamin, who is 32 months old and keeps us very busy.  We also have a rescue dog, Daphne, and we usually have a foster dog from Basset and Beagle Rescue of the Heartland hanging around our house as well.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions, thoughts or concerns you may have, either during the school year or even before school starts.  My email address is tim_krayer@ralstonschools.org, or you can leave me a voicemail at school by calling 402-331-6475.

Thanks in advance for a great year!  Keep reading!
